Cryolipolysis The Science Research

Cryolipolysis FAQ / Fat Freeze

Does it work?

Absolutely, but don’t take our word for it. We encourage all of our clients to research Cryolipolysis before their procedure. There is significant research which proves the effectiveness of the procedure. See our research page for more information.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the procedure varies depending on the requirements of individual patients. We encourage our customers to book a free consultation where we will discuss the size of the areas that you would like treated. Rest assured VIVO Clinic strives to provide the Cryolipolysis procedure at a significantly more affordable rate than our competitors.

How does it work?

Simply put, Cryolipolysis results in fat cell death. An increased inflammation recruits a number of immune cells into the area of freezing, resulting in mediating lysis (death) of fatty cells. This phenomenon then results in a gradual slimming of the targeted area within several weeks*.

Where do the fat cells go?

Simple put, your body digests them. Just like any energy source, they are cleared through the lymphatic system.

Will I put the weight back on?

Our bodies contain a finite number of fat cells and therefore the cells will not reproduce. However, an individual’s excessive calorie intake could trigger the remaining fats cells to compensate and increase in size. It is therefore important to maintain a healthy lifestyle following your treatment.

Are there any side effects?

This is a common Cryolipolysis FAQ. There are no adverse long-term affects associated with Cryolipolysis. The concept is based on the responsiveness of fat cells to the cold. It is proven that our skin and fat are affected at different temperatures; therefore you can freeze the fat but not harm the skin. With that said, patients may experience a little bruising and numbness, which tends to last several days.

Is the procedure safe?

At VIVO Clinic, the procedure and has been awarded CE- mark.

How long will it take me to recover?

Cryolipolysis FAQ – The method is 100% non-invasive; this means no scalpels, needles, anaesthetic or sedation. With no restrictions or limitations imposed patients are free to resume their routines immediately after treatment. cryolipolysis faq

How many sessions will I need?

The length of procedures varies depending on the targeted area and the number of areas being treated. VIVO Clinic cannot guarantee specific results, however, on average each session can result in a 23% reduction of fat (see research page).
Our clinicians are dedicated to bringing you the very best results, so once we have understood your needs, we will help put together a bespoke plan for you.

Will this work on loose skin and fat?

Cryolipolysis FAQ – Unfortunately, Cryolipolysis is not designed to tighten loose or stretched skin. This may require more invasive approaches such as lipectomies or our cavitation and skin tightening treatments. However, if you are still unsure come in and see us, and we will determine whether or not our procedure is suitable.

Is it a cure for obesity or Cellulite?

Cryolipolysis is not a substitute for invasive body contouring methods and nor is it a treatment for cellulite. Instead, it is used to target troublesome areas of fat e.g. abdominal pouches, for a more slim and toned look.

Is there an age limit?

Cryolipolysis FAQ – Patients must be older than 18.

What happens during the treatment?

Once you have helped identify the treatment area your practitioner will place a cool gel pad on it to help protect the skin. A vacuum is then attached to the area, which draws in the fat, and as this occurs you will experience a mild cold sensation, which will gradually drop in temperature to around -7 or -8 degrees Celsius, freezing the fat cells.

At VIVO Clinic, this procedure will last 1 hour, during which time you are able to listen to music, watch a movie and use the iPads available while the treatment gets to work.
