When returning to the UK from either a red or amber list country, you must:
- Self-isolate for ten days,
- And take PCR tests on Day 2 and Day 8.
There are exemptions, of course. Among others, fully vaccinated people and under-18s are not required to quarantine nor take a Day 8 PCR test on returning from an amber list country.
But everybody else, ones who are ineligible for the exemptions, must book the two PCR tests prior to travelling back to England. If you are required to take these tests on returning from a red or an amber list country and fail to include the test appointment details in the pre-flight passenger locator form, you face the risk of hefty fines and penalties.
What should I do on my arrival in England?
On entering the UK, if it applies to you, you must enter quarantine right away. This compulsory quarantine period will last for ten days unless you test positive on one of the PCR tests.
If you return from a red list country, you must complete your quarantine period in a hotel. The hotel quarantine arrangements must be arranged before returning to the UK. This must be done through the government’s website.
Can I come to your Bath clinic while I am self-isolating?
Even while you are in quarantine, you can travel to our clinic for your PCR tests, given that you have a pre-booked test appointment with us.
We recommend taking at-home tests if you have symptoms or have been in contact with someone with symptoms.
Where is the clinic located?

2 Hetling Court
Do I need to bring anything with me for the test?
Be sure to bring your valid passport when attending your test appointment at our Bath clinic.
- The Day 2 and Day 8 tests together,
- The Day 2 tests only,
- The Day 8 tests only,
- Or our at-home tests.
We offer the following options for you to pick from:
Will you provide a reference number to include in my passenger locator form?
A unique reference number (starting VIVOC) will be provided as soon as you complete your booking with us for you to include in your pre-flight passenger locator form.
How will I receive my test results?
You will receive your PCR test results from us via email.
When will I receive my results?
Traditionally, we supply results within 24 hours of the sample collection. However, every once in a while, sequence testing may take a little longer. Even on those rare occasions, processing the results do not take longer than 72 hours.
Samples for appointments taking place after 5 pm reach our laboratory the next day. Due to this, the results may take up to a maximum of 48 hours to be ready.
What should I do if I test positive?
Whether it is from Day 2 or the Day 8 test when you receive a positive result, your ten-day quarantine period resets from one day after taking the test.
For instance, if your Day 8 test result is positive, your current quarantine period cancels out, and the new one begins from Day 9.
What should I do if I test negative?
You are not required to do any additional things if the results for both your tests come back negative.
