Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests are a legal requirement if you arrive in the UK after visiting countries on the red list or if you travelled to a non-red list country without being fully vaccinated. These tests need to be taken in addition to observing a ten-day mandatory quarantine period.

If you are fully vaccinated and visited a country that is not on the red list, the Day 2 PCR test is the only one you must take without worrying about self-isolation.

You must book these tests before your return to the UK. Failure in this regard will result in fines and other penalties.

The Day 2 test is to be taken on the second day of your quarantine or before. The Day 8 test must be taken on the eighth day or after. The day you arrive in the UK is considered Day 0.

If you receive a positive result in either one of the tests, you will be required to extend your quarantine by an additional ten days starting from the day after the test date.

  • What should I do on my arrival in England?

If it is required of you, you must enter quarantine as soon as you enter the UK. You will need to take the two PCR tests during this self-isolation period.

If you are returning to England from a red list country, you are legally required to quarantine at an approved hotel. Please be advised, you must make the necessary arrangements for it via the government’s website.

  • Can I come to your Norwich clinic while I am self-isolating?

Yes, you can. Government regulation dictates, however, that you must have a pre-booked test appointment with us to do so. And you must follow a restricted route where you travel between your residence and our clinic only.

  • Where is the clinic located?

      34 Exchange Street
      NR2 1AX

  • Do I need to bring anything with me for the test?

Please do not forget to bring along your passport.

  • Booking Options

You can book each test separately or together. Based on what you need, you can book:

      • The Day 2 and Day 8 tests together,
      • The Day 2 test only,
      • The Day 8 test only,
      • Or our at-home test kits.
  • Will you provide a reference number to include in my passenger locator form?

We are legally obligated to give you a unique reference number (starting VIVOC) when you book the Day 2 and Day 8 tests with us.

Please be sure to include this number when you fill in the passenger locator form before travelling to the UK.

  • How will I receive my test results?

We will be sending you the PCR test results via email.

  • When will I receive my results?

Once your samples are collected, we will deliver the test results within 24 hours.

Occasionally, it may take up to 72 hours. This is extremely rare, however. Due to the complicated process, sequence testing can at times take a little longer.

Also, for test appointments that take place after 5 pm, processing the results may take up to 48 hours. This is because the courier to our laboratory usually leaves by 5 pm, and samples do not reach the lab until the next day.

  • What should I do if I test positive?

If either one of the tests come back positive, you must extend your quarantine by an additional ten days, counting from one day after you had taken the test.

For instance, if you get a positive result on the Day 2 test, then you must restart your quarantine from Day 3. The previous days you spent in self-isolation will not count anymore.

  • What should I do if I test negative?

You do not have to do anything. Your quarantine ends after the mandatory ten days if both the Day 2 and Day 8 tests come back negative.

If you are self-isolating after returning from a non-red list country, you can shorten the quarantine period by taking an additional Day 5 Test to Release.
