All international arrivals in the UK from the amber list and red list countries must undergo two PCR tests on crossing the border – the first, on or before Day 2 and second, on or after Day 8. The day of arrival is considered Day 0.

In addition to the tests, arrivals from the amber list and red list countries must quarantine for ten days. Red list country arrivals must observe quarantine in a government-approved hotel.

However, anybody who has received both their jabs from the NHS no longer has to quarantine or take the Day 8 tests on returning to the UK from amber list countries.

If either of the tests results in a positive for COVID-19, then the quarantine period resets for another ten days starting from one day after the test date.

Please note, the Day 2 and Day 8 tests must be booked well ahead of departing for the UK as test details need to be included in the pre-flight passenger locator form.

  • What should I do on my arrival in England?

It is a legal mandate that all arrivals from the amber list and red list countries begin quarantine as soon as they enter the UK.

As soon as you arrive in England, you must enter quarantine. If you are coming in from a red list country, you need to arrange for a hotel quarantine prior to your arrival via the government’s website.

  • Can I come to your Oxford clinic while I am self-isolating?

If you have a pre-booked test appointment with us, you will be allowed to travel to our clinic. However, you must be careful to restrict your route between your quarantine location and our clinic.

  • Where is the clinic located?

      Address:

      Marriott Oxford City Centre
      15 Paradise Street
      Oxford
      OX1 1LD

  • Do I need to bring anything with me for the test?

Please bring along with you your valid passport when attending the test appointments.

  • Booking Options

We provide several options to book from:

      • The Day 2 and Day 8 tests together,
      • The Day 2 test only,
      • The Day 8 test only,
      • And at-home test kits.
  • Will you provide a reference number to include in my passenger locator form?

As soon as you have booked your Day 2 and Day 8 tests with us, you will receive a unique reference number (starting VIVOC).

You will be asked to produce a filled-in passenger locator form by the border police when you reach the UK. You must include the reference number in this form beforehand.

  • How will I receive my test results?

As soon as they are processed, our test results are transmitted via email.

  • When will I receive my results?

Our PCR test results are typically processed within 24 hours of the test appointment taking place. However, in rare instances, it may take up to 72 hours. This is due to the overly complicated nature of sequence testing.

Receiving your test results may also be delayed if your test appointment is booked for a slot after 5 pm. This is because our courier service to the laboratory has already left for the day, and we cannot transport your samples over to our lab until the next day.

  • What should I do if I test positive?

If your result shows that you are infected with COVID-19, you will be required to reset your quarantine period from one day after you had taken the test.

For instance, you test positive on your Day 2 PCR test, then you must begin counting the new self-isolation period from Day 3. The new quarantine must last for ten days as well, and any day spent self-isolating prior to that will be nullified.

  • What should I do if I test negative?

If your results come back negative for both tests, your quarantine period will naturally terminate after the ten days have passed.

If you are returning from an amber list country, you will have the option to end self-isolating as early as five days after your arrival by opting in for the Day 5 Test to Release.
