Day 2 and Day 8 PCR Tests York
Book your Day 2 and Day PCR 8 tests at our York Clinic.
Alternatively, you can purchase a Day 2 & Day PCR Testing package to be delivered to the location where you are self-isolating.
The UK requires every person returning from a red list country to undergo PCR testing on Day 2 and Day 8 of arrival. The tests are to be taken in conjunction with a ten-day mandatory quarantine period.
These rules also apply to individuals travelling from other countries but have not been fully vaccinated. However, the people who have received the full course of the COVID-19 vaccines coming to the UK from non-red list countries are only required to take Day 2 PCR tests.
Red list country returnees must remain at government-approved hotels for the duration of their quarantine and the PCR tests.
As the names indicate, the Day 2 PCR test needs to be taken on or before the second day of arrival and the Day 8 PCR test needs to be taken on or after the eighth day. The day one arrives is considered Day 0.
Hefty fines and other penalties will apply if anyone fails to book the required tests before returning to the UK. The test booking details must be included in the pre-flight passenger locator form.
What should I do on my arrival in England?
Once you have been granted entry at the border, you must enter quarantine immediately if required. The quarantine period will last ten days unless you test positive on one of the PCR tests.
Red list country returnees must quarantine at approved hotels. Hotel quarantine arrangements must be made before travelling to the UK via the government’s website.
Can I come to your York clinic while I am self-isolating?
Yes. Following government regulation, you can travel to our clinic location even if you are self-isolating as long as you have a PCR test appointment with us.
However, if you exhibit COVID-19 symptoms or suspect an infection, you must not travel. You can purchase our at-home Day 2 and Day 8 PCR test kits instead.

Do I need to bring anything with me for the test?

You can choose one from the following options:
Will you provide a reference number to include in my passenger locator form?
Once your test booking with us is processed, we will provide you with a unique reference number (starting VIVOC), which you can then enter in your passenger locator form before departing for the UK.
How will I receive my test results?
Your test results will be sent to you by email.
When will I receive my results?
Our PCR test results are typically processed and delivered within 24 hours of the appointment. However, due to the complexities of sequence testing, results have taken up to 72 hours to be prepared on the rarest of occasions.
Also, results for test appointments after 5 pm may take 48 hours to be ready. This is because our daily courier to the laboratory leaves by 5 pm with all the testing samples.
What should I do if I test positive?
If you get a positive for COVID-19 in either of the tests, you must restart the ten-day quarantine from one day after you had taken that test. The days you had spent in quarantine before you took the test will become invalid.
What should I do if I test negative?
If both your tests come back negative, you are not required to do anything additional. Your quarantine period will conclusively end after the initial ten days are spent.
If you are returning from a green list country and you are not fully vaccinated, you can consider opting into the Test to Release scheme for a chance to shorten your quarantine period by taking a Day 5 PCR test.
