Our Tests in Comparison to Government / NHS Tests
The free NHS COVID-19 tests are not to be used for foreign travel purposes per government’s regulation; only PCR tests provided by authorized private suppliers are meant for travelling abroad.
Being a leading PCR test provider, we ensure that our tests are maintained to a standard acceptable globally. Furthermore, our testing service includes providing fit-to-fly certificates with every negative result – an essential aspect of international travel these days.
What is a PCR Test?
Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) are used for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 in a person. PCR tests are the type of NAAT primarily used for detecting current infections.
Why do I need a PCR test for travel?
PCR tests are a part of the various measures set up globally to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and its many variants through foreign travel channels. Thus, when you travel abroad, you will be required to produce a negative PCR test at the border of your destination country.
When should I book the test?
It is vital that you are duly informed about the entry requirements of your destination country for this. You can easily check the entry requirements of every country open for travel from the UK on the government’s website.
Some countries consider tests valid only if they are taken within 48 hours of arrival, while others require tests taken within 72 hours of departure. There are other requisites as well; thus, it is best to know your destination’s requirements before booking the test.
Will I get a fit-to-fly certificate?
Yes, we will supply you with one if you receive a negative PCR test result.
Can I buy at-home tests instead of coming to the Bath clinic for testing?
Definitely, purchase our at-home tests here.
Nonetheless, be advised that the time constraints that come with sending your samples to our lab via post can lead to results being delivered much later than if you had taken the test in-clinic. At-home tests, therefore, may not be suitable for visiting many countries.
Is your laboratory regulated?
Yes, it is. Our lab is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the certificate number CRT1-4708702735.
How reliable is the test?
Although no test is 100% accurate, PCR tests are considered by experts internationally to be the gold standard when it comes to detecting current COVID-19 infections in people.
Will the test tell me if I’ve recently had the virus?
PCR tests can only detect current infections. You can use immune response tests to check for an infection you may have had in the recent past.
Where is your clinic located?

2 Hetling Court
What should I do if I receive a positive result?
If you receive a positive test result, you must temporarily put your travel plans on hold and enter quarantine for ten days.
Once you have recovered fully and can attain a negative PCR test result, you can resume travelling.
