Our Tests in Comparison to Government / NHS Tests
Tests booked through the Government website are not for recreational travel purposes and do not supply you with a fit-to-fly certificate. Unnecessary strain is being put on the government system by those attempting to book tests for travel.
Our in-clinic tests are for travel purposes only. If you have COVID-19 symptoms you should book a test via the Government website or buy a test from our online shop.
What is a PCR Test?
A PCR test is the analysis of a throat and nasal swab sample where coronavirus related RNA can be detected. Such tests are now mandatory for many international travel destinations.
Why do I need a PCR test for travel?
Most travel destinations have adopted measures to stem the spread of coronavirus. One of these requirements is evidence of a negative Covid-19 PCR test taken within a specific window (usually 72 hours).
Which countries require a PCR test?
When should I book the test?
Tests need to be taken within a specific timeframe. Firstly, please check with your travel operator to confirm the window. When you check availability using our online booking system, the calendar will tell you the window in which you will receive your results via email.
Using these two pieces of information you can book a suitable appointment date and time at our Norwich clinic.
Will I get a fit-to-fly certificate?
Yes, providing your result is negative your results sheets (sent via email) can be used as certification.
Is this test suitable if I am symptomatic or believe I may have the virus?
No. This test is strictly for travel validation purposed only. If you are symptomatic or believe that you have the virus you should not book an in-clinic test. Current infection home tests are available from our shop.
34 Exchange Street
Which countries can I travel to?
The countries to which you can currently travel and their respective regulations are continuously evolving. Please see our travel advice portal for more information on which countries are open for travel and their entry requirements.
What should I do if I receive a positive result?
If you receive a positive result, this means that you are currently infected with COVID-19, and you could pose a risk to others around you. Therefore, you should self-isolate immediately, and inform those you have been in contact within the last 7 days in case this result affects them.
If you would like further information on what you should do if you receive a positive result, you should visit https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 or contact the NHS on 111.
