Our Tests in Comparison to Government / NHS Tests
Tests booked through the Government website are not for recreational travel purposes and do not supply you with a fit-to-fly certificate. Unnecessary strain is being put on the government system by those attempting to book tests for travel.
Our in-clinic tests are for travel purposes only. If you have COVID-19 symptoms you should book a test via the Government website or buy a test from our online shop.
What is a PCR Test?
A PCR test can detect coronavirus RNA present with current Covid-19 infection. A swab of your nose and throat is analysed by our laboratory.
Why do I need a PCR test to travel?
To help stop the spread of the virus, evidence of a negative PCR test is required by many countries to enable you to travel. The tests are effective at detecting current Covid-19 infection.
When should I book a test?
When you check the availability online at our Southampton location, each slot will tell you when you will receive your results. This is useful information as it will allow you to book a suitable appointment within your destinations test window.
Please check with your travel operator if you do not know your destination country’s test window.
Which countries require a PCR test?
Will I get a travel certificate?
Results are sent via email and are recognised by all airlines. Please note, only a negative result is classed as a fit-to-fly certificate.
Is this test suitable if I am symptomatic or believe I may have the virus?
No. This test is strictly for travel validation purposed only. If you are symptomatic or believe that you have the virus you should not book an in-clinic test. Current infection home tests are available from our shop.

Which countries can I travel to?
The countries to which you can currently travel and their respective regulations are continuously evolving. Please see our travel advice portal for more information on which countries are open for travel and their entry requirements.
What should I do if I receive a positive result?
If you receive a positive result, this means that you are currently infected with COVID-19, and you could pose a risk to others around you. Therefore, you should self-isolate immediately, and inform those you have been in contact within the last 7 days in case this result affects them.
If you would like further information on what you should do if you receive a positive result, you should visit https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 or contact the NHS on 111.
