Our Tests in Comparison to Government / NHS Tests
The government has disallowed the use of COVID-19 tests from the NHS for foreign travel purposes. Anyone embarking on a trip abroad from the UK must use PCR tests offered by government-approved suppliers.
VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests are being supplied specifically for foreign travel: we provide fit-to-fly certificates with negative tests and next-day results
What is a PCR Test?
The PCR test is the premier COVID-19 detection method. It is recognized and approved globally by governments and every major airline.
The actual test involves determining virus presence in a person’s swab samples as a means of ruling out current infections.
Why do I need a PCR test for travel?
Pre-travel PCR tests are now a vital part of foreign travel. Depending on where you intend to travel, the severity of restrictions to keep out COVID-19 and its variant strains will vary. However, almost every country will only grant foreign visitors entry following a conclusively negative PCR test.
When should I book the test?
You must always refer to the government’s foreign travel advice page before booking a test. The testing requirements vary for every country. While some of the most popular destinations require visitors to take the pre-travel PCR test at least 72 hours before travelling, others require tests taken within 48 hours of departure.
Will I get a fit-to-fly certificate?
We provide fit-to-fly certificates to all our customers who test negative. Our certificates contained detailed laboratory analyses that are verified by trained laboratory personnel.
Can I buy at-home tests instead of coming to the Swansea clinic for testing?
We can deliver our at-home PCR test kits if that is what you prefer.
However, we recommend in-clinic PCR tests if your destination country has a tight time window within which you must take the test. The at-home test results take up to 48 hours to be delivered from when the laboratory receives your samples by post.
Is your laboratory regulated?
Yes. Our lab is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with certificate number CRT1-4708702735.
How reliable are PCR test?
Among the many available COVID-19 detection methods, PCR tests are considered the most reliable globally.
Will the test tell me if I’ve recently had the virus?
No, that is not how PCR tests work.
You may use our at-home immune response test for checking if you have had a previous infection.
Where is your clinic located?
Parkhouse Therapy Centre
12a Alexandra Rd
What should I do if I receive a positive result?
You must self-isolate for ten days on receiving a positive PCR test. You will be banned from international travel until you have fully recovered and can prove it by getting a conclusively negative PCR test.
