Antigen Tests for Travel
Use VIVO Clinic’s rapid antigen tests to visit overseas destinations and to return to the UK.
Rapid antigen tests are accepted as a legitimate COVID-19 testing method to determine current infections by the UK and several other countries.
The antigen tests are self-testing. On ordering your antigen tests from us, you can use them from the comfort of your own home (or any other location).
Be sure to order the test kits at least one week before you are about to embark on your trip.
Carefully following the enclosed instructions, take the pre-travel test 2-3 days before departing, or as specified on the entry requirements of your destination country.
When you have completed all the steps of the test, the result should be apparent within 15 minutes. Snap a clear photograph of the test cassette placed beside your passport and upload it to the secure link provided.
As soon as you share the image with us, we will verify it and send you the QR-code fit-to-fly certificate within 24 hours.
Pack your ‘return to the UK’ antigen test kit to take with you. The UK permits a time window of 72 hours before departure in which to take the test. As you did with the first one, take the test and share images of the result 2-3 days before departing for the UK.
What is a rapid antigen test?
An antigen test (also referred to as rapid antigen lateral flow test) is a COVID-19 detection method. Like PCR tests, antigen tests use a person’s swab samples to determine the presence of SARS-CoV-2. The test looks for the protein found on the surface of the virus.
How is the rapid antigen test performed?
The antigen tests can be taken at home. It is performed using swabs provided with the kit.
Please refer to the video for detailed information on the kit’s contents and how to perform it at home.
Can antigen tests be used as Day 2 and Day 8 tests?
No. Antigen tests can only be used as pre-departure or pre-travel tests when travelling to certain countries.
Only PCR tests are acceptable for use as Day 2 and Day 8 tests (as well as Day 5 tests). These tests must be taken when returning to the UK from amber and red list countries.
If you are required to take Day 2 and Day 8 PCR tests, be sure to book or purchase them before returning to the UK.
Are fit-to-fly certificates provided for the antigen tests?
As soon as you have completed doing your test, you must share with us an image of the result on the test cassette and your passport.
We will verify the test and email you a QR-code fit-to-fly certificate within 24 hours.
Do all countries accept antigen tests at their borders?
Many countries, including the UK, have started to accept rapid antigen tests as valid pre-departure tests.
However, as the pandemic is constantly changing, countries are also updating their travel and entry requirements. It is best to refer to the latest information provided by the government before purchasing a test.
