How helpful is a blood test for PCOS?
Polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS, can give rise to increased risks of diabetes, thyroid disorders, and high cholesterol.
PCOS can result in the following symptoms:
- Irregular menstruation
- Acne
- Hirsutism (excess body hair)
- Problems getting pregnant
The blood test for PCOS will determine any hormonal imbalances you may have, such as high testosterone. Hormonal imbalance along with irregular menstruation can indicate PCOS.
