Due to the pandemic, all non-essential travel from the UK is currently banned. However, citizens of Britain and Ireland, and UK residence rights holders from third-country nations are permitted to return to the UK.
The Day 2 and Day 8 tests are legal requirements for all returnees and must be booked ahead of travelling to the UK. Failure to do so will lead to fines and penalties.
Moreover, people arriving from countries on the UK’s travel ban red list are required to self-isolate at government-approved hotels. This too must be booked prior to travelling to the UK.
As mentioned, you must book the Day 2 and Day 8 tests before your flight to the UK at your earliest convenience. For this, we at VIVO Clinic require only your personal and travel details. Once your booking is confirmed, we will provide you with a unique reference number. You will need to include this number in your passenger locator form. This form must be filled in and submitted before your flight.
We will ship the Day 2 test one day before you arrive in the UK, so it reaches you on the day of your arrival. The Day 2 test must be taken on or before the second day of your quarantine period.
The day 8 test must be taken on or after Day 8.

The instruction leaflet will have clear and precise guidelines on how to administer the tests. However, if you find anything confusing, you are more than welcome to contact us for further guidance.
You must use the swab to collect samples from your nose and your throat. Then, carefully place the used swab in the collection tube, which you must seal in the clear specimen transport bag.
From the time your samples reach our laboratory, it takes 24-48 hours for us to test them and send you your results. You will receive your test results via email.
If you receive a positive result on either the Day 2 test or the Day 8 test, you will be required to start a separate ten-day quarantine period, starting one day after the test date. In the instance of a positive Day 2 test result, your samples may be subject to further testing to detect the presence of foreign COVID-19 variants. This is only a preventive measure to cut off foreign strains from entering the UK.
Conversely, on receiving negative results for both Day 2 and Day 8 tests, you are free to stop self-isolating on completing the mandatory ten days.
For everyone returning to England from countries, not on the UK’s ‘red list’, they have the option to end their quarantine periods early by opting into the Test to Release scheme. Under this scheme, such passengers can take an additional test on Day 5 of their arrival, and if they receive a negative test result, they can end quarantine early. Nevertheless, the Day 2 and Day 8 tests will remain mandatory in such cases.
We will require your personal and travel details when you place your order for the tests. On completion of your order, you will be provided with a unique reference number (starting VIVOC). You must include this number when filling in your passenger locator form prior to your arrival in England.
If you are returning to England from a non ‘red list’ country, you are permitted to reduce your quarantine period with our Day 5 Test to Release. However, the Day 8 test will remain mandatory.
All international arrivals are required to quarantine for 10 days. If you are returning from a ‘red list’ country, you must self-isolate in an approved hotel. Alternatively, if you are returning from a non ‘red list’ country, you are to self-isolate in an approved location: this can be your home, with your friends/family, or an approved hotel. We will commence the shipping process the day before your arrival. This means you will receive your kit by Day 1, however, if there are delays with Royal Mail you should receive this no later than Day 2. Please note, you must administer the Day 2 test on or before Day 2 of the quarantine period.
If your arrival day lands on a Saturday or Sunday these kits will be sent out on the Friday prior. This means you will either receive them on Saturday or Monday.
You must administer the Day 8 test on or after Day 8 of the quarantine period.
Please note, you are required to order the tests prior to your arrival in the UK.
You will need to fill in a passenger locator form within 48 hours of your UK arrival. When filling out the form, the test provider is Randox and the reference number is your order number from this email (starting VIVOC). This is the same reference number you will use when registering your kit with Randox.
Once you have completed your sample there are 2 options available to you in relation to sending it back.
Option 1 (FREE) – Randox drop boxes are situated all across the United Kingdom. You can drop your sample off at your nearest drop box. Please visit click here to locate your nearest drop box.
Option 2 (FREE) – We have recently partnered up with “DX courier.” If your nearest Randox drop box is too far away you can drop your sample at your nearest DX drop site. If you have purchased either the Day 2 OR Day 8 test you will find in this envelope 1 tracked specimen postage label. If you have purchased both the Day 2 and Day 8 test you will find in this envelope 2 tracked specimen postage labels. You must attach these to the white envelope provided in your kit before dropping it off at a DX site. Please make a note of your tracking number as without this you will not be able to track your sample in the event of a delay. You will find this located under the bar code and printed twice at the bottom of the label. Please ensure you fill out your sender name, phone number and address. Please be advised, we do not recommend using Royal Mail to send your samples back to the lab. Royal Mail are currently experiencing overwhelming demand and we will not be held accountable for delays as a result of this. Did you know that you can reduce your 10-day self-isolation by up to five days by taking a ‘Test to Release’ PCR test? These can be purchased online and sent to the location where you are self-isolating or taken in-clinic at one of many locations in England. Please note, the Test to Release scheme only applies when self-isolating in England and doesn’t apply to if you’ve travelled from or through a ‘red list’ country.
The results of your tests will be made available to you online via a secure patient area. An email will be sent to you confirming your result is ready. You can then view and download a copy of the result by accessing the secure patient area using log-in details provided when you ordered the test. Based on your result, the patient area will instruct you on what to do next.
For the purpose of clarity, you will be provided with separate log-in details for each of your two tests.
If you test positive for Covid-19, you are required to self-isolate for 10 days from the day after your test date. The 10 day self-isolation will apply to everyone living and/or travelling with you. This quarantine period is mandatory regardless of symptoms being present or not. If your Day 2 test result is positive, your sample may be subject to genome sequencing in order to discern any Covid-19 variants. This preventive measure aims to stop new variants from entering the UK.
Following Government guidelines, you must complete the 10-day self-isolation period even if you test negative for Covid-19 on both tests.
However, if you are returning from a country that is not on the UK Government’s ‘red list’, you can opt for a reduction of your quarantine period with our Day 5 Test to Release. You can order this test from us separately. The Day 8 test will still remain mandatory.
