  • Information

If you are travelling to a country on the UK government’s ‘green list’, you will not be required to quarantine post-return. However, you will need to take a COVID-19 PCR test on or before Day 2 of your arrival in the UK. And, in most cases, you may need to take a PCR test before departing from the UK; it is entirely dependent on your destination country’s entry requirement.

You can read up on the entry requirements of various countries on the government’s website. Additionally, you can also refer to our travel advice page.

Since the government’s lift on the foreign travel ban on 17 May, we have streamlined our COVID-19 testing services to adhere to the ‘traffic light’ travel system.

For the traveller’s visiting countries on the UK’s ‘green list’, we offer the following tests:

      • A pre-departure PCR test (optional)
      • Day 2 PCR test

Depending on your need, you can purchase both tests or only an individual Day 2 PCR test.

  • Do I need a PCR test before travelling?

Most countries on the UK’s ‘green list’ require a negative result from a PCR test from foreign visitors. Although a few countries do not, many airlines also require passengers to take a PCR test before travelling.

We advise that you conduct thorough research of travel requirements of your destination country and airline of your choice.

Please check our travel advice page for up-to-date foreign travel information.

  • When should I take the pre-departure PCR test?

While most countries require a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure, this may not be true in every case. This time window varies from country to country. It is best to research the requirement specific to your destination country beforehand.

If you require an early test result, you can opt for an in-clinic PCR test for travel. We offer same-day results service at several of our clinics.

  • When will my Day 2 test kit be delivered to me?

We will dispatch your Day 2 PCR test kit one day ahead of your arrival in the UK. You will receive your test kit on the day you arrive.

You must take the test on or before Day 2 of reaching the UK. The day you arrive in the UK will count as Day 0.

  • What should I do with my test kit?

When you have received your test kit, please read the enclosed instructions carefully first. It is a self-administer sample collection process.

Once you have collected your swab samples, use the provided envelope to send the samples to our laboratory.

We are partnered with Randox Laboratory; you may use your nearest Randox dropbox. In case you have trouble finding one near you, you can also drop your samples off at the closest DX Courier drop site.

  • When will I receive my results?

Once the testing samples reach our laboratory, we process the results within 24 hours.

Typically, you should expect to receive your results within 48 hours of taking the test.

  • How will I receive my results?

We will send you the test results in your email.

  • What should I do if I test positive?

If you test positive on your Day 2 PCR test, you must quarantine for ten days. Once your quarantine period is over, you will not be required to take any additional tests.

In case you test positive on the pre-departure PCR test, you must delay your travel plans and go into a ten-day quarantine.

  • What should I do if I test negative?

There is nothing you are required to do if you test negative on both tests. You may carry on with your plans.

  • What if my destination country moves to the ‘amber list’?

If your travel destination gets moved to the ‘amber list’ after you have bought the required tests, you will need to buy an additional Day 8 test.

Furthermore, you will need to quarantine for ten days on your return to the UK. Also, ‘amber list’ country returnees may opt in to the Test to Release scheme for a shorter quarantine period. For this, you will need to buy a Day 5 PCR test as well.

  • What if my destination country moves to the ‘red list’?

If your destination country is placed in the ‘red list’ after you have bought the tests, you will need to purchase the Day 8 test. Moreover, when returning from a ‘red list’ country, you will be required to quarantine at an approved hotel. You must make the necessary arrangements via the government’s website.
