Arrivals from red and amber list countries are required to self-isolate for ten days on reaching England. However, with the Government’s Test to Release scheme, the quarantine period may be reduced to five days for amber list country returnees.
This scheme allows you to cease self-isolating if your Covid-19 PCR test results in a negative. Please note; you may only take a pre-booked Covid-19 PCR test five days after your arrival in England.
This scheme applies to international arrivals self-isolating in England and returning from amber list countries only. Participation is voluntary, and if you choose not to take part, you will be required, by law, to complete your ten-day self-isolation period.
However, if you are fully vaccinated, you are not under a legal obligation to quarantine on return from an amber list country.
When will I receive my results?
On the day after your test. We offer a next-day results service at our Bristol clinic for £125 and a same-day results service for £165.
We will send your results to you by email. If you get a negative test result, you may end self-isolating early.

You can book an in-clinic appointment for the Covid-19 PCR test with us here.
Can I travel to your Bristol clinic if I am self-isolating?
Yes, you can travel to the test location. However, you can only go from your quarantine location to our clinic and return directly from the clinic to your residence.
If you are displaying symptoms or have been in contact with someone with symptoms, you may take an at-home test.
How does the Test to Release PCR test work?
A member of our clinical team will supervise the collection of a swab sample from your throat and another one from your nose.
What if I test negative?
You can stop self-isolating right away when your result comes back negative.
What if I test positive?
You must restart your ten-day quarantine. This time, the quarantine will begin from the day after the test.
The NHS website has the latest guidance.
What if my test result is inconclusive?
Your mandatory self-isolation is unaffected; you must finish the ten days. You may book another test if you wish.
Can I take part in the scheme after I arrive in England?
No, you cannot, as appointment details of your pre-booked Covid-19 PCR test must be included in your passenger locator form before your flight to England.
Can I take part in the scheme if I am travelling from a country on the travel ban red list?
No. This scheme only applies to international arrivals in England from countries that are not on the travel ban red list. If you are arriving from, or have been through, a ‘red list’ country, the ten-day quarantine period is mandatory.
