When arriving in England from countries on the government’s red list, you are legally bound to self-isolate for ten days. This is also applicable if you come to the UK from countries not on the red list, but you still have not completed your COVID-19 vaccination course.
You can, however, reduce your self-isolation period to a mere five days by opting into the government’s Test to Release scheme if you have come to the UK from a non-red list country.
This scheme allows you to take a PCR test five days after your arrival in England. If you receive a negative test result, you will be permitted to stop self-isolating immediately.
Please note: you can only participate in the Test to Release scheme if you fly from a country that is not on the UK’s red list.
This scheme applies to international arrivals in England only, and participation is entirely voluntary.
Fully vaccinated individuals who come in to the UK from non-red list countries are not required to quarantine.
When will I receive my results?
The results will be sent to you a day after your test via email.
You can book a next-day results service at our Hull clinic for £125.

Your quarantine period remains unaffected, although you can book a retest.
Can I take part in the scheme after I arrive in England?
No, you have to opt into the scheme before coming to England.
Before you arrive in England, you will need to fill in the passenger locator form. You have to include the details of your pre-booked Covid-19 PCR test in this form to participate in the scheme.
Can I take part in the scheme if I am travelling from a country on the travel ban red list?
You cannot. You can only partake in the Test to Release scheme if you travel from a country that is not on the red list.
If you fly from a red list country or have been in transit through one, you cannot participate in the scheme and must adhere to the ten-day self-isolation period.
