  • Information

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals travelling from red list countries must go into mandatory quarantine for ten days upon entry into the UK.

They can shorten the quarantine period to five days by opting into the Test to Release scheme. This scheme applies to travellers who are self-isolating in England only, and it is completely voluntary.

Travellers taking part may book an additional COVID-19 PCR test, and if they receive a negative test result, they may stop self-isolating.

Please be advised: you can only take a PCR test five days after your arrival in England.

  • When will I receive my results?

At our Liverpool clinic, we offer a next-day results service for £125 as well as a same-day service for £165.

We will deliver the results via email.

  • How can I opt into the Test to Release scheme?

      To opt into the scheme:

      1. Get an appointment for a Day 5 PCR test before you begin your travels,
      2. Verify on your passenger locator form that you will take part in the scheme by filling in the details of your pre-booked test appointment.

You can book an in-clinic Day 5 PCR test appointment at our Liverpool clinic on this page.

  • Can I travel to your Liverpool clinic if I am self-isolating?

You can go to the clinic with a valid pre-booked test appointment. However, you must strictly limit your travel to going from your quarantine location to the test site only.

In case you are symptomatic or suspect you may be infected, you will have to take an at-home test.

  • How does the Test to Release PCR test work?

The PCR testing is a very straightforward process. A member of our clinical team will collect a swab sample from your nose and throat. The samples will then be tested at our laboratory.

  • What if I test negative?

A negative test result means you can stop quarantining.

  • What if I test positive?

If your result comes positive, you have to quarantine for ten days, but this time, your isolation period starts from the day after your test date.

  • What if my test result is inconclusive?

You must continue self-isolating until you take another test with a conclusive negative result.

  • Can I take part in the scheme after I arrive in England?

Sadly, you will not be able to. The reason is that you must provide details of your pre-booked test appointment on your passenger locator form before your journey.

  • Can I take part in the scheme if I am travelling from a country on the travel ban red list?

International arrivals from a red list country are not permitted to take part in the Test to Release scheme.

If you are coming from or have been through a red list country, you are legally bound to self-isolate for ten days.
