On reaching England from non-red list countries, unvaccinated or partially vaccinated passengers are required to complete ten days of self-isolation. However, opting into the Test to Release scheme may potentially lower the quarantine period to five days for eligible travellers.
By signing up for this scheme, you can take an additional COVID-19 PCR test, and if you get a negative result, your quarantine stops immediately. The PCR test can only be taken a full five days after your arrival.
This scheme is only valid for people self-isolating in England.
When will I receive my results?
We have a next-day results option at our Norwich clinic for £85.
Your results will arrive via email.
What is the Clinic Address?
Norwich clinic’s address:
34 Exchange Street
How can I opt into the Test to Release scheme?
For this scheme, a Day 5 PCR test needs to be booked ahead of your flight. When filling in your passenger locator form (also ahead of your travel), you need to opt into the Test to Release scheme and add the test appointment details.
You can book an in-clinic Day 5 PCR test appointment at our Norwich clinic on this page.
Can I travel to your Norwich clinic if I am self-isolating?
To travel to our Norwich clinic, you must have a pre-booked COVID-19 PCR test appointment. You must follow a restricted route, limiting yourself to only going directly to our clinic from your residence and back.
You must take an at-home test if you have any Covid symptoms or suspect you are infected.
How does the Test to Release PCR test work?
This PCR requires swab samples from the throat and nose. The collected samples then need to be tested for the virus in our laboratory.
What if I test negative?
Your quarantine period stops on the reception of a negative result.
What if I test positive?
The ten-day quarantine period restarts from the day after your test if you receive a positive result.
What if my test result is inconclusive?
You are still obligated to continue the original ten-day quarantine until you can get a more conclusive from another test.
Can I take part in the scheme after I arrive in England?
As you must enter details of the test appointment on your passenger locator form ahead of your journey, you will be unable to participate in the scheme after arriving in England.
Can I take part in the scheme if I am travelling from a country on the travel ban red list?
Those who travel from a red list country or arrived via one are ineligible to take part in the Test to Release scheme. They must complete the whole quarantine period.
