International arrivals in the UK from non-red list countries who are not fully vaccinated are legally required to self-isolate for ten days.
However, they may be able to reduce this mandatory quarantine period by taking part in the government’s Test to Release scheme.
This voluntary scheme would allow eligible participants to take an additional PCR test five days after arrival. A negative result from this Day 5 Test to Release will enable the participant to stop self-isolating immediately.
Taking part in this scheme is voluntary and only applies to non-red list country arrivals who will quarantine in England.
When will I receive my results?
We deliver results the next day following your test. Our York clinic’s next-day results service is priced at £85.
You will receive the test results via email.
What is the Clinic Address?
Novotel York Centre
How can I opt into the Test to Release scheme?
If you are coming to the UK from an amber list country, be sure to confirm in your pre-flight passenger locator form that you want to opt into the Test to Release scheme.
However, in order to do so, you will need the details of a pre-booked Day 5 PCR test. Thus, it is essential to book your test appointment well ahead of your arrival in the UK to opt into the Test to Release scheme.
Can I travel to your York clinic if I am self-isolating?
Yes. Per the government’s regulation, you will be allowed to travel to the location of your PCR test centre even if you are self-isolating.
However, if you exhibit COVID-19 symptoms or suspect an infection, you must not travel. You can purchase our at-home PCR test kit instead.
How does the Test to Release PCR test work?
The PCR test used in the Test to Release scheme is the standard test where your nose and throat samples are collected to determine the presence of COVID-19 RNA in them.
What if I test negative?
If you get a conclusive negative result from the Day 5 PCR test, you can stop self-isolating immediately after.
What if I test positive?
On receiving a positive result, you will be required to restart your ten-day quarantine from one day after you had taken the test.
What if my test result is inconclusive?
An inconclusive result does not imply a negative for COVID-19; thus, it will not affect your quarantine status. You must continue your self-isolation.
Can I take part in the scheme after I arrive in England?
As opting into the Test to Release scheme involves selecting the option on your passenger locator form before your flight to the UK, you will not be able to participate after you have already arrived.
Can I take part in the scheme if I am travelling from a country on the travel ban red list?
No, only unvaccinated or partially vaccinated arrivals from non-red list countries are eligible to participate in the Test to Release scheme.
Red list country arrivals must observe the full length of their quarantine period in a government-approved hotel.
