More Information
Botulinum Toxin (commonly known as Botox) is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. When used in controlled, therapeutic doses, it serves as an effective treatment for both aesthetic and medical conditions.
For anti-ageing treatments, Botox® typically begins to take effect within 3–4 days.* We recommend taking a photo before your procedure and another one week later to assess the results.
For reducing underarm sweating, the effects may take slightly longer to appear, but no more than 21 days.
The effects of Botox® are temporary, usually lasting 3–4 months, after which a follow-up session can be scheduled.
Botox® is not a facelift; it simply softens frown lines and crow’s feet. If you are looking to tighten facial skin, we recommend our non-surgical ultrasound facelift.
There have been no confirmed cases of serious toxin spread when BOTOX® Cosmetic is used at the recommended dose to treat frown lines, crow’s feet, or both simultaneously.
Our doctor will discuss this with you, and we will not carry out the procedure on anyone who is pregnant, has a urinary tract infection, or is taking certain prescription medications.
For further details on the potential risks of Botox®, please visit their official website.
- 1820s: Justinus Kerner conducted early clinical studies and determined that Botulinum Toxin acts by interrupting signal transmission within peripheral motor and nerve pathways.
- 1895: Professor Emile van Ermengem isolated Clostridium Botulinum as the source of food poisoning.
- 1920s: Dr Hermann Sommer made the first attempts to purify Botulinum Toxin Type A.
- 1970s: Dr Alan Scott pioneered the clinical use of Neurotoxin for treating strabismus and blepharospasm.
- 1989: Botulinum toxin A was approved for therapeutic treatment of facial conditions.
- 2002: FDA approved Onabotulinumtoxin A (BOTOX) as a temporary aesthetic treatment for moderate to severe frown lines.
Botulinum Toxin comprises two polypeptide chains (heavy and light) held together by a disulphide bridge. After injection, Botox interrupts the normal process of neurotransmission by inhibiting the release of acetylcholine from presynaptic motor neurons, causing temporary muscle paralysis.
This reduces muscle activity that causes moderate to severe lines, resulting in smoother skin appearance.
Treatment Areas
Upper Face Treatment Zones
Forehead Lines (Frontalis Muscle)
- Frontalis muscle elevates the brow
- Typically 5-7 injection points across the forehead
- Medium depth injection

Frown Lines – Glabellar Region
- Targets Procerus, Corrugator Supercilli, and Depressor Supercilli muscles
- These muscles draw the eyebrows medially and inferiorly
- Typically 5 injection points
- Varying injection depths required:
- Procerus – Deep
- Medial Corrugator – Deep
- Lateral Corrugator – Medium Depth
Crow’s Feet/Laughter Lines (Peri-Orbital Region)
- Targets the Orbicularis Oculi muscle
