VIVO Clinic brings you travel PCR tests in Sheffield with same-day results service and a fit-to-fly certificate with every negative test.
After over a year of COVID-19 lockdowns, on and off, the foreign travel ban lift is a great change of pace. However, since the pandemic is far from over, safety and caution must still remain a top priority.
Regardless of the country you are planning on visiting, there is an extremely high chance that you will be facing a list of restrictions. The most prevalent cautionary measure being taken by almost every country in the world are COVID-19 screening at the borders.
Governments are doing this by asking visitors to produce a negative PCR test result before granting them entry.
While the NHS COVID-19 tests have been made off-limits to travellers, VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests specifically cater to foreign travel.
Our PCR tests in Sheffield come with a choice of same-day or next-day results. Plus, everyone who gets a negative result is supplied with a fit-to-fly certificate by default.
What is a PCR test?
The polymerase chain reaction or PCR test is the most reliable method to find a current COVID-19 infection in an individual. It is recognized globally, and results from PCR tests are accepted by the authorities everywhere.
Please note, at VIVO Clinic, the tests we offer are RT-PCR tests. These are PCR tests which use an additional process called ‘reverse transcription’. While certain countries only accept results from RT-PCR tests, the countries who want the standard PCR tests will also readily accept RT-PCR test results.
Why do I need a PCR test to travel?
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the present rise in cases caused by mutated strains of the virus, countries around the globe are trying to prevent further spread by screening visitors before allowing them in. Visitors are being asked to produce a valid negative PCR test at the borders.
Therefore, it is essential that you have your PCR test for travel taken via a government-approved provider.
When should I book the in-clinic PCR test?
It is essential to be sure of your destination country’s entry requirement before booking your PCR test. You can find the latest information on the government’s website.
Many countries have a time window of 72 hours before departure – PCR tests taken outside of this time are considered invalid. However, this time window is not definite and is constantly updated as newer data emerges. Therefore, it is best to be sure before booking your test.
Will you provide me with a fit-to-fly certificate?
We supply fit-to-fly certificates by default as long as the test result is negative for COVID-19. Our certificates are attested and contain a detailed analysis of the test from our laboratory.
Is your laboratory regulated?
Our laboratory is registered with Care Quality Commission and can be found under the certificate number CRT1-4708702735.
How are VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests in Sheffield done?
The PCR tests have only two major steps:
- We will collect samples from the back of your throat or inside your nose. The collection is done using swabs.
- The samples are then tested at our laboratory to determine whether COVID-19 RNA is present.
The video below demonstrates how the samples are collected.

Can I find out about a previous infection with a PCR test?
No, but you can use our at-home immune response test to find out if you have had a previous infection.
PCR tests are only adept at identifying current COVID-19 infections.
What if my PCR test result comes back positive for COVID-19?
Getting a positive result from a PCR test will legally obligate you to enter a ten-day quarantine period immediately. You will be restricted from foreign travel until you have recovered from the infection and can prove it by producing a negative PCR test.
