HIFU Facelift is not a painful treatment.

However, some patients feel mild discomfort due to the concentrated warmth. If this happens, our clinical practitioners lower the intensity settings of the HIFU applicators.

The HIFU Facelift treatment removes the looseness of skin and wrinkles from areas of the face like around the eyes, mouth and cheeks.

The concentration of the focused ultrasound used in this procedure is different for each area of the face and other related regions.

For instance, the skin around the eyes and mouth tends to be thinner and more sensitive, so the focused ultrasound used is of much lower intensity.

The length of time a single session requires depends entirely on the size of the facial area being treated.

On average, a single HIFU Facelift session lasts between 30 to 90 minutes.

Aftercare is as important as the treatment itself to achieve the correct results.

The aftercare following a HIFU session involves a few easy steps. These are:

• Covering yourself against sunlight
• Strictly keeping yourself from scratching the treated skin
• Abstaining from hot showers and baths
• Not drinking alcohol for a short period
• Staying hydrated

In addition, you may be asked to apply HIFU post-treatment supplements like HD Thermal Cream and C-TOX.

Sticking to aftercare will not only benefit your skin health, but it will ensure the most effective result from the treatment.

Following a HIFU Facelift session, the side effects include mild redness and some tenderness in the areas where focused ultrasound was applied.

Nevertheless, these effects only last for a very short period of time and are extremely mild in severity.

Both the redness and tenderness disappear within a couple of days.

HIFU treatments at our Birmingham clinic start with a one-on-one consultation with one of our experienced clinicians.

During this pre-treatment consultation, the clinician will walk you through the facelift procedure in detail and answer all your questions.

The pre-treatment consultation usually lasts around 15 minutes.

A skin analysis and patch test follow the consultation, lasting around 25 minutes in total.

The skin analysis and patch test help the clinician determine whether the treatment is appropriate for your skin type and ascertain the best intensity setting for the HIFU applicator.

The actual procedure should take another 30 to 90 minutes.

The facelift procedure is not suitable for being performed on tanned skin. Thus, we always ask our patients to refrain from getting a tan (whether from sunlight or other sources) for a minimum of 2 weeks before the session.

If applicable, we also ask that you schedule your treatment sessions at least 2 weeks after your prescription medication course has ended.

This is because certain medicines (like antibiotics) tend to make the skin extra sensitive to light.

At least 1 week before the HIFU session, you must stop using any skin products that cause irritation, even if it is very slight.

You must attend the clinic with a clinic and dry face on the day of the scheduled treatment. This means no moisturiser or makeup.
