In this two-part article, we explore the circumstances which may require eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty), the benefits/drawbacks of surgery and the alternatives to the procedure.
Want to restore your youthful look and take years off your face? Tired of spending money on eye creams and serums that make no difference? In this case, blepharoplasty could be an option. Also known as eyelid surgery, it helps rejuvenate the upper and lower eyes so you can look and feel your best. However, there are risks involved with surgery, which is why treatments such as Plasma Eye Lifts (soft surgery) are proving to be a viable alternative.
This procedure first became popular in Japan and South Korea. In 2015, it was the third most popular type of cosmetic surgery worldwide. Millions of men and women go under the knife each year to reverse the signs of aging and get rid of droopy eyelids.
What Is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a type of cosmetic surgery that aims to improve the appearance of your eyelids. It involves removing excess skin or fat from around the eyes to restore their youthful look.
The surgeon makes small incisions either on the inside of the eyelid or below the lash line. Next, he will close up the incision and hide the scar in the natural fold of your eyelid. The stitches are usually removed within a week. Surgery takes between one and two hours. Most patients can return home the same day.
Excess skin and fat on the upper eyelid can create an aged appearance and even affect your vision. With blepharoplasty, you will achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance. The results are quite dramatic and last for years.
When Is Eyelid Surgery Necessary?
This cosmetic procedure appeals to men and women who wish to look younger. It’s ideal for those with:
- Sagging or puffy eyelids
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Eye bags
- Vision problems due to upper eyelid position
- Crow’s feet

16,267 Reviews and CountingMy treatment took longer than expected as I was advised by the online team I’d only need a certain amount, but during her assessment I needed more. She was very understanding, stayed later to do most of my treatment and then booked me in for the remainder. She’s very warming, engaging and welcoming, and also gave me extra advice on how to get the best out of my treatment courses.
