Advent Calendar Day 22

PCR Test Reading

Receive your results the same day you take PCR tests in Reading with VIVO Clinic.

While the government has lifted the ban on foreign travel, holidaymakers and travellers are still prohibited from using the NHS COVID-19 tests for trips abroad.

Governments worldwide are making their entry requirement policies stricter, mostly due to the rise in COVID-19 variant cases. Every popular travel destination now requires visitors to produce a negative PCR test before welcoming them.

VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests are perfect for travellers. On attaining a negative result, we present our customers with fit-to-fly certificates free of charge. Furthermore, while we have next-day results services, you can also book for the same-day results service.

What is a PCR test?

Polymerase chain reaction or PCR test is a procedure by which a specific DNA or RNA in a sample can be multiplied exponentially and studied in close detail.

The PCR test is now the best possible COVID-19 detection method; its results are recognized and accepted by all countries and airlines.

Why do I need a PCR test to travel?

Every country has set up border restrictions due to the pandemic. Foreign visitors must have a negative PCR test to enter almost any country nowadays. There may be other safety precautions in place, such as the need to quarantine on entry.

When should I book the in-clinic PCR test?

Before you book your in-clinic PCR test, it is best to find out about the specific entry requirement of your destination country. This is because not every country follows the same rules regarding the validity of a PCR test. While some countries will accept a negative PCR result if taken within a week of the departure date, many others consider any test taken more than 72 hours before the flight is invalid.

You can find updated information on foreign countries’ entry requirements on the government’s website.

Will you provide me with a fit-to-fly certificate?

On getting a negative result, we present our customers with fit-to-fly certificates free of charge.

This document will be signed by the laboratory personnel who conducted the test and contain detailed information about our laboratory.

Is the laboratory you use for PCR tests in Reading regulated?

Our laboratory is regulated by the Care Quality Commission. It is registered with the certificate number CRT1-4708702735.

How are VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests in Reading done?

Customers need only be present for the most straightforward portion of the PCR test: the sample collection. We use swabs (basically, very long sterile cotton buds) to collect samples from inside the nose and back of the throat.

The samples are then sent to our lab for testing.

This video will show you how the samples are collected.

Can I find out about a previous infection with a PCR test?

No. We can only find a subject’s existing COVID-19 infection through PCR testing.

VIVO Clinic’s at-home immune response test can be used for identifying a previous infection.

What if my PCR test result comes back positive for COVID-19?

A positive result means you are infected with COVID-19, and you risk transmitting the virus to anyone who comes in close contact with you. Thus, you must enter quarantine immediately and inform anyone you have been in close contact with.

You cannot travel if you get a positive PCR test, and we will be unable to present with you a fit-to-fly certificate.
