5 Alternatives to Liposuction
In an increasingly fast paced world, it can be difficult to find time to take regular exercise and eat sensible well balanced meals. Those fortunate enough to balance work with frequent visits to the gym and a healthy diet, can still be left with stubborn areas of fat which just don’t want to budge, no matter what. Given these problems, it’s no wonder that more people are looking into surgery as a way of getting rid of fat. There are however a number of issues, drawbacks and complications to going under the knife, that can be off-putting to say the least. These include the cost, the downtime and the potential risks that any sort of invasive surgery can carry.
You’ll be glad to know there are a number of less drastic and more cost effective alternatives to invasive surgery, which may be more suited to you. Here’s the top five.
#5 Body Jet
Cost: From £3000
Body-jet® liposuction is gentler alternative to liposuction. A local anaesthetic is applied and then a small incision is made. A small pulsating cannula is then inserted which can wash away fat without harming nerved and blood vessels. Because of the gentler nature of this technique, recovery time is reduced to a couple of days and results can be seen within three to six months.
#4 Vaser Lipo
Cost: From £4000
Vaser Lipo is less invasive than conventional liposuction. A local anaesthetic is applied and then a probe is inserted which produces ultrasound. Suction is then applied, which removed some of the fat cells which have been broken down by the sound waves. Following the procedure, you have to wear a support garment for several weeks. Results can be seen within three to six months.
Cost: From £90
#3 Abdominal Massage
An fat loss abdominal massage is said to work if your digestive system is working inefficiently. According to Dr Stephen Chang “The exercise effectively metabolizes the fatty tissues around the stomach and intestines, and flushes them out of your body through blood, sweat, urine, and feces”
#2 Cavitation / Ultrasound
Cost: From £99
This procedure is completely non-invasive as ultrasonic sound waves are applied to the desired areas. Fat cells cannot without the pressure caused by this specific frequency and as such, their integrity is decreased, causing them to implode and exit the body via the lymphatic system.
The number of sessions required can depend upon the patient but 72 hours must pass between treatments. Results can often be seen within a few days but can take up to twelve weeks.
#1 Cryrolipolysis / Fat Freeze
Cost: From £99
Treatments such as Cryolipolysis and Fat Freeze are clinically proven to reduce fat by up to 20% within the areas which has been treated. Suction cups are applied to the desired areas. The cups then cool the fat over the period of around 45 minutes. During that time, some of the fat cells die, without affecting the skin and blood cells. Some light bruising is possible but the procedure will cause no downtime and results will be visible within twelve weeks.
