Take your PCR test in Brighton at VIVO Clinic and get results the next day.
Of the countless changes the COVID-19 pandemic has brought about, the biggest one is possibly the adjustments to foreign travel.
While many countries have closed their borders outright to curb the spread, the ones who still welcome foreign visitors do so with preventative measures in place.
Among the most common steps that travellers must follow are entering quarantine on arriving in a foreign country and producing a negative PCR test result before commencing travel.
The PCR tests are arguably more important when it comes to planning a foreign visit. Once you have been granted entry into a country, entering quarantine is easy (although staying in quarantine is admittedly more challenging). However, it is downright impossible to cross a country’s border these days without showing evidence of a negative PCR test first.
When you take a PCR test for travel at our Brighton clinic, we provide the results fairly quickly: the very next day. Moreover, we also send along a fit-to-fly certificate with every negative test result.
Furthermore, for everyone who wants or needs to travel abroad but does not necessarily want to visit the clinic, we offer at-home PCR tests.
What is a PCR test?
A PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test uses samples from a person’s nose and throat to find the presence of COVID-19 RNA. It is the most reliable method of detecting COVID-19 infections.
What is the difference between a PCR test and an RT-PCR test?
While both tests use similar methods, the RT-PCR test uses an additional process called reverse transcription.
Many countries specify that they want visitors to have a negative result from an RT-PCR test before travelling. In these instances, a regular PCR test will not be of any use. However, countries that simply want results from PCR tests will accept RT-PCR test results as well.
At VIVO Clinic Brighton, we only do RT-PCR tests. This way our customers are prepared for either possibility.
How reliable are PCR tests?
As mentioned previously, PCR tests are the most reliable method of COVID-19 detection. Also, you can rest assured that VIVO Clinic’s PCR test in Brighton is designed foremost for travellers.
Why do I need a PCR test or an RT-PCR test to travel?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, countries across the world have made PCR tests a mandatory entry requirement. This is part of the global effort to restrain the spread of COVID-19 and its international variants.
Which countries require visitors to take a PCR test before travelling?
With a handful of exceptions, every major country in the world will want potential visitors to take a PCR test. As for the specific requirements, you may refer to our regularly updated travel advice page.
When should I book the in-clinic PCR test?
Again, we would recommend you check our travel advice page as well the government’s website before you decide. The time window between taking the test and embarking on your trip will vary. While most countries specifically state requiring a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure, other countries have their own rules for this.
Will you provide me with a fit-to-fly certificate?
If you receive a negative result on your PCR test, we will definitely give you a fit-to-fly certificate. We do not charge any additional fees for it either.
Our fit-to-fly certificates come with a clinical professional’s attestation and details of our laboratory.
Is your laboratory regulated?
Our lab is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission. The certificate number is CRT1-4708702735.
How is your clinic’s PCR test in Brighton done?
The in-clinic test is quite simple: you will be directed by our clinical personnel on how you must extract swab samples from your nose and throat. That is all you will have to do, really.
Here is a video tutorial, in case you want to be prepared beforehand:

Can I find out about a previous infection with a PCR test?
PCR tests are used for detecting current infections only.
You can try our at-home immune response test to find out about a previous infection.
What if my PCR test result comes back positive for COVID-19?
You must enter quarantine immediately. Since this period must last at least ten days, you will also have to delay your travel plans until you have recovered.
It goes without saying, but we will not give you a fit-to-fly certificate if your PCR test comes back positive for COVID-19.
