HIFU Facelift (Non-Surgical)

Our HIFU Facelift is one of the latest innovations to benefit the cosmetic industry. This technology can target the muscular layer within the skin, which was previously only treated through invasive surgery. As a result of this, you can have your dream facelift without any of the risks, and be ready to face the world immediately! We are thrilled to offer the HIFU Facelift at VIVO Clinic.

HIFU Facelift

HIFU Facelift Science

HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, which means that ultrasound is emitted into the skin in tiny beams that converge at specific depths. The technology targets three layers of skin, beginning with the epidermis. You can see this layer on the surface of your skin, though this part is made up from dead cells. The epidermis is a protective layer that stops our skin going soggy, and prevents bacteria from causing harm. The second layer of the skin is the dermis, where you find the blood vessels and nerves. The dermis is responsible for our sense of touch, and any pain that we feel when we hurt ourselves. Finally, underneath both of these layers is the superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) layer. By treating this layer, it means that the facelift will be much more effective and long-lasting.

HIFU

During the HIFU Facelift, the ultrasound beams penetrate the skin and converge at depths of 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm. These correspond with the three levels of skin discussed above. When the beams converge under the skin, they create a minuscule source of heat. The thermal energy works to encourage the growth and repair of collagen, a protein that is found in the skin. By doing this, the skin is tightened, giving your face a smoother and firmer appearance. Therefore, this treatment is ideal for reducing signs of ageing such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and wrinkles.

HIFU Facelift Research

Park et al. (2015) tested the effectiveness of HIFU technology on reducing wrinkles and loose skin on the face. The researchers found that the HIFU was successful in tightening the skin, particularly on the cheeks, and around the jaw. Crucially, the results showed very few side effects, although a couple of participants experienced temporary redness and swelling.

Another report compiled by Sabrina Guillen Fabi discusses how ultrasound technology can tighten the skin on the neck. As well as this, from examining results over a significant period following the treatment, it was clear that the benefits of the treatment improved. Most importantly, the researchers discovered that by using ultrasound to depths of 4.5mm and treating the SMAS layer, participants received a noticeably better facelift. See more research.

HIFU Science

Both of these studies prove that HIFU is an effective and safe treatment which allows you to have the facelift you have always wanted, without any of the dangerous risks of invasive procedures.

Our HIFU Facelift procedure takes between 30 to 90 minutes, depending on how many areas of the face you want to target. An applicator releases HIFU onto the areas of the face that are appropriate for each level of ultrasound. The treatment is not usually painful. However, you may feel some discomfort when the ultrasound is emitted into the skin. If this is the case, your practitioner can lower the intensity of the ultrasound so that the treatment is as relaxing as possible!

At VIVO Clinic, we understand that deciding to go for a treatment involves a lot of thought and consideration. Therefore, we have taken the time to answer some of the most common questions we receive about the HIFU Facelift procedure. HIFU FAQ

What happens before the treatment?

Before the treatment, you will always have a consultation with one of our trained practitioners. At VIVO Clinic, we believe that our clients need to be fully informed and comfortable with treatments before going ahead. When you have consented to the procedure, your practitioner will draw lines on your face as a guide for where to apply the HIFU and to highlight the location of important nerves and blood vessels. Then, they will apply ultrasound gel for your safety and to ensure that the treatment is comfortable.

What happens during the treatment?

Our practitioners place an applicator on different areas of the face, firing ultrasound beams into the skin. This is moved around the face to treat the appropriate areas, beginning with the highest level of ultrasound. Your practitioner will repeat this for each of the three depths of ultrasound. Some areas such as the chin can only be treated by the lowest level of ultrasound because they are incredibly sensitive.

What can I expect after the treatment?

After the treatment, the consultant will clean your face once again. To promote healing, our practitioners will apply our C TOX Collagen Synthesis & Cell Renewal Serum. This helps you get the best results by further stimulating the growth of collagen in the skin after the treatment. We recommend that you purchase this serum, and apply it once a day.

How long will the results last?

Results can last for around six months, though this will vary from person to person. As well as this, some people may benefit from a top-up treatment to achieve their desired results. If you look after your skin and maintain a healthy lifestyle, then you may see long-term benefits from the treatment!

How long until I see results?

You will normally see results within the first 20 days after the procedure, and these will continue to improve in the weeks after this.

What areas is it used for?

The HIFU Facelift covers multiple areas of the face such as the forehead, cheeks, jawline, and chin. However, some areas of the face can only be treated with the lower level of ultrasound due to the fact that the skin is thinner.

Is it safe?

Yes, our equipment is CE certified, and trained practitioners will always conduct the treatment.

Will it hurt?

Typically the procedure is not painful. Some people feel discomfort when the ultrasound beams create heat under the skin. This may occur in more sensitive areas such as around the mouth and under the chin. The good news is that because we use such advanced technology, our practitioners can lower the level of the ultrasound to make the treatment comfortable. At VIVO Clinic, we are dedicated to the comfort and happiness of our clients. Our practitioners will do everything they can to ensure you enjoy the treatment!
