VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests for travel can now be availed of in Edinburgh. The service includes same-day results and complimentary fit-to-fly certificates.
With the fluctuating foreign travel rules, the only thing to remain constant since the start of the pandemic is the use of PCR tests to screen infections in travellers.
It is near impossible to find a country in the current climate where a person can visit without first proving they are not infected. Although many countries accept vaccination passes, PCR tests remain the most widely used method.
When travelling from the UK, people are only allowed to use PCR tests from private suppliers authorized by the government. NHS tests are not to be used for foreign travel purposes.
What are PCR tests?
PCR tests rely on a laboratory sequencing procedure to determine whether RNA from the SARS-CoV-2 virus is present in a subject’s swab samples.
How reliable are PCR tests?
Although no tests are a hundred per cent precise, PCR tests come pretty close. Experts consider it the ‘gold standard’ when it comes to finding COVID-19 infections.
When should I book the in-clinic PCR test?
Please verify the entry requirements of your destination country before booking your pre-travel PCR test. Each country has their own rules regarding how long before departure (or arrival) a test can be taken to be considered valid.
The government’s foreign travel page has all the up-to-date entry requirements for travelling from the UK.
Will you provide me with a fit-to-fly certificate?
We supply complimentary fit-to-fly certificates with all negative PCR tests.
How are VIVO Clinic’s PCR tests in Edinburgh done?
In our Edinburgh clinic, the standard PCR testing procedure is followed. Customers will have their samples collected in-clinic using swabs. The swab samples will then be transferred to our laboratory site for the sequence testing portion of it.
The in-clinic sample collection is very straightforward; refer to the video for a demonstration.

Can I find out about a previous infection with the PCR tests in Edinburgh?
We recommend that you order our immune response test to find out if you have had an infection previously.
PCR tests can only detect current infections.
What if my PCR test result comes back positive for COVID-19?
In the event of a positive PCR test, you must begin self-isolating and postpone all your travel plans.
You will only be allowed to travel following the ten-day quarantine and a negative PCR test.
