Eating healthy can sometimes feel like a burden. It can be time-consuming and may not taste as good as faster, unhealthier alternatives. Thankfully, there is a huge range of kitchen gadgets that make preparing and cooking healthy foods easy and fun! And best of all, they end up tasting as good as, if not better, the fast food alternatives. We have put together a list with some of our favourites.
Blender/Food Processor
This is a kitchen essential! Blenders are perfect for making healthy smoothies that fruity and vitamin rich to give you the energy that your body demands. A lot of companies now manufacture devices that act as a blender and a food processor. The electric base comes with different components that fits on top, ranging in volume and type of blades so you can blend virtually any food! In fact, there are food processors in the market that come with built-in intuitive AI systems. It helps choose the best setting for the type of food you are blending. And then, there blenders where the top component doubles as a cup. All you have to do is change the lid and you are ready to go!
Hand Blender
This tool is ideal for helping you make healthy and nutritious soups. As well as sauces and dressings. While you can use a normal food processor, sometimes you only need to blend one ingredient, for instance, potatoes. The hand blender allows you to focus on blending specific ingredients. It gives you more control over the texture of your food, as you may only need to blend for a few seconds.
Spiralizer
A spiralizer allows you to do something a bit different with your vegetables. This machine locks the vegetable in place and rotates it, slowly slicing it so that it comes out in long, thin strips. Vegetables in this form make a fantastic alternative to pasta, especially if you are trying to reduce your carbohydrate intake. Try this with your Bolognese instead of spaghetti! The best vegetables to spiralize are butternut squash, courgette, and cabbage.
Slow Cooker
This device is another kitchen essential, particularly if you have a busy lifestyle. You prepare your food the night before and switch the slow cooker on in the morning when you go to work. By the time you come home, your meal will be waiting for you! Slow cookers are great for making nutritious casseroles and stews, as well as cooking meat so it is tender. It is also ideal for cooking in bulk, having the additional benefit of making meals cheaper.
Juicer
This is a healthy alternative to buying juice, which often contains a lot of unhealthy sugars. By juicing the fruits and vegetables yourself at home, you get all of the natural goodness and benefits without harming your body. With some juicers, you don’t even need to peel the fruit or vegetables, as it separates the juice from the pulp.
Air Fryer
This may not sound like a healthy choice, but helps to reduce unwanted substances from your diet. An example of this is oil. The air fryer allows you to fry food such as chips using a fraction of the oil used in a deep fat fryer. This means that your food will be healthier and less harmful to your body.
It may seem like these gadgets only make a small difference. However, over time these investments can be very beneficial for your health. They all make preparing healthy food easier and fun while letting you try new ways of cooking your meals.
